Skin Care

Clinical skin care is a term used to describe a skin care regimen along with products prescribed by a physician and administered by either a nurse or an esthetician. With a properly administered skin care program, one can see and feel improved texture and smoothness, fading of dark spots, improvement in pore size, and reduction of wrinkles. Following a thorough skin care evaluation, a treatment regimen will be prescribed. Typical products to use at home include Retin-A, alpha hydroxy acids, cleansers, bleaching agents, moisturizers, sunscreens, antioxidants, and vitamins C and D. In-office procedures can include microdermabrasion, micro peels, ultrasound treatments, or light chemical peels (glycolic or salicylic acid). Participating in a physician supervised skin care program can lead to dramatic improvement in the health and appearance of your skin. For further information or if you have questions regarding your current skin care regimen, please call our office or visit our new "Ask the Nurse" section.

The clinical skin care program at Dr. Martin's office is one of the most sophisticated in the city. A skin analysis is available by use of a skin scope which identifies the sun damage within the deeper layers of the skin. We can fully understand the physiological effects of aging and damaged skin, and determine an appropriate plan to address these issues. Dr. Martin's office perform microdermabrasion, as well as glycolic and salicylic acid peels, and offers an array of physician-formulated skin care products. Each product that is either sampled or sold is always accompanied with information about its use and expected results. We strive to sample as many products as possible, so patients can decide if they like the product before purchasing. Budget, availability for treatments, lifestyle, and severity of skin problems are just a few of the factors which are considered when determining a skin care regimen which is individualized for each patient.

We now offer facial treatments on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. Treatments include microdermabrasion, glycolic acid peels (20%, 40%, and 70%), and salicylic acid peels. Dermaplaning is an option for an additional $25.00. This provides total resurfacing along with blackhead and whitehead extractions. Call now for an appointment with our skin care specialist Fay for treatments during these new hours.
