Mommy Makeover Timing Cincinnati Plastic Surgery

Mommy Makeover Procedure Timing

After you have children, you may wonder many different things. One thing a lot of moms ask us is when they can have a Mommy Makeover procedure. Each of our patients are different, but we can generally advise you when the best time for a Mommy Makeover procedure is. At Cincinnati Plastic Surgery, we put patient safety as a top priority.  That’s why we time out your surgery to make sure it’s as safe as possible for you.

Do You Want More Children

One of the most important questions you should ask yourself is if you’re done having children. While you still can get pregnant after a Mommy Makeover, a pregnancy undoes a lot of the work done by another pregnancy. If you’re planning on having more children, you may want to hold off on your surgery until you’ve decided not to get pregnant anymore.

In addition to having the procedure after you’re done having children, you also want to wait on having the surgery if you’ve recently had a child. We recommend waiting at least six months to have a Mommy Makeover once you’ve had a baby.

Scheduling Your Procedure

When it comes down to it, scheduling matters. You want to make sure a variety of things scheduled and taken care of before and after your procedure. Remember, recovery on any surgery takes time. The amount of procedures in your surgical package determines the length of recovery.

First, you want to make sure you have child care arranged after your procedure. After surgery, you are not allowed to lift heavy things, children included. While you recover, see if someone can help with your kids, especially if you have younger children.

Also, you’ll want to consider the season in which you have your Mommy Makeover. Fall and winter is one of the best times to schedule plastic surgery. Typically, you have more of an opportunity to hide bandages with the bulkier clothing you wear.

Know Your Goal Weight

Finally, make sure you know your goal weight. Knowing your goal weight is crucial. The Mommy Makeover may cause you to lose some weight after the surgery because we remove some skin and fat. The removal is what causes the weight loss. While you lose some weight, it won’t be a substantial amount. Making sure you’re close to your goal weight before scheduling your procedure is a great way to ensure you’re healthy enough to undergo surgery while also giving you a realistic expectation of what your surgical results will be.

Scheduling a Mommy Makeover is a delicate thing. We want to make sure a number of items are met before performing your surgery in order to have the best possible results.
